Anime News Network have posted a news story concerning anime film screenings at London's British Museum.
London's The British Museum, one of the oldest and most renowned museums in the world, is hosting "Late Night Manga to Anime Film Season," a series that spotlights features which have raised anime's international profile. The features include;
Naruto The Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (July 28),
Porco Rosso (August 4),
NausicaƤ of the Valley of Wind (August 11),
Phoenix 2772 - Space Firebird (September 7),
Barefoot Gen (September 13),
Akira (September 14),
They Were Eleven (September 21),
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society (September 28),
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (September 29).
As you can see, its a rather odd mix of films. While features like NausicaƤ, Akira and Barefoot Gen have clearly helped to raise anime's international profile, I am not so sure of older title like They Were Eleven or very new releases like Solid State Society.
Also rather strange, is that some of the films (such as GitS: Solid State Society) are free (but you must book in advance), while there is a charge for others (such as GitS: Innocence). Follow the links for each film for booking information.
A bit late with this update, but here is a bit of news concerning changes to the cosplay arrangements for JapanEx London
